Dead birds, bad omens?

by

Although due to the weather that is sweltering around here, my mother-in-law found three dead birds (one on the back porch, two in the side yard) with no indication that they were injured or bleeding, when she came home from workyesterday.  If that wasn’t strange enough, my wife went to take the dog out this evening, and there was a black bird laying in the grass. Our dog bolted after it and picked it up in its mouth. He eventually dropped it and we brought him back in. I went out to see the bird and its feathers were all spread out in the grass. It was breathing but not moving. So we started to look for a box, in case it was injured. After finding gloves, box, and a flashlight (it was getting dark) we went to look for the bird, but it was nowhere to be found. We searched the entire backyard and our garden to no avail. Finally we came in and watched an episode of Lost on Netflix, an episode in which a dead bird appeared which signaled the death of the mother of a boy on the show. With all these bird sightings it has us a bit creeped out.
